he did it.

{side note}
I decided that if I were to EVER give a graduation talk...I would not quote Dr. Suess (even though I love him so) and I would try very hard to stay away from the words success, jouney (unless I talked about the band), and anything else that you hear in every single graduation talk ever known to man.

There has got to be another take on this whole graduation business.

I'm just sayin'.

Congrats Alex!!!
I can't wait for our adventures to come (as adults and whatnot).
I'm expecting more late night mcD runs and good talks and concerts and dance parties and singin' our hearts out and road trips (it's been too long since we last did this) and laughing (lots and lots of laughing).

LOVES YOU MUCHO.

no way.

It's grajiation time!

Wow.
My mama's fifth child will graduate from Timpview High School tomorrow.

He's probably the coolest yet (studliest for sure).
And I don't know anyone that can make me laugh harder than he does.
Anyone ever need some comic relief? Call him. I promise you won't be disappointed.

Plus, he has some sweet moves.

(the pictures are mostly for my enjoyment)

Time flies when you're havin' fun eh?

recommendations for you.

FIRST. everyone...
go VOTE for my friend emily in her blogging brawl! She made it to the FINALS. And if she wins, she gets a paid column in the MormonTimes.

really, go read her stuff and vote HERE. (make sure you click on emily dyer :)

SECOND. everyone...
Meet my dear friend Kelsey:

She basically rocks. AND she teaches YOGA. How awesome is that?
Well, you can see for yourself how awesome it is by visiting her website!
I have taken classes from Kelsey and can honestly say, she is GREAT.
She offers lots of different specials (including bridal yoga! what??), private, and group lessons...plus more.

Now that I feel a little bit like one of those cheesey infomercials, just take my advice and give Kels a call. I know that Yoga has worked wonders for me (I'm a little high in the anxiety department). And I know it can benefit anyone who gives it a shot.

and...that's all for today.

the rain has turned to snow.

The slushy kind of of snow.

Oh and it is May.
Well, it is actually the end of May.

Secretly (OK not so secretly)
I love that it is snowing.

(Even though I would probably prefer the warm)

I got to put on a coat today.
A really cute one, that I probably won't take off.

Some kind of comfort comes with that.
Kind of like I'm wearing a hug all day long.*

I love hugs.
And sometimes you just need them.

*credit goes to Whitney Stice for the analogy
*credit for the photo goes here

it's raining outside.

And I'm listening to this song.

So many good things about it.
The words, for one.

"For diamonds do appear to be
Just like broken glass to me
...
Hey moon, please forget to fall down
Hey moon, don't you go down
...
The ink is running toward the page
It's chasing off the days
Look back at both feet and that winding knee
I missed your skin when you were east
You clicked your heels and wished for me
"

I think it is beautiful in every way. And so is the rain.
Which is what makes rainstorms so magical.
The way rain sounds like nothing else.
Speaking louder at night.
Plus.
It makes my hair go straight.
Smells really good.
And puts me in a certain mood.

An indescribable mood.
Not good. Not bad.
Just a mood.

Maybe one of those deep-thinking kinds.
Oh. And it makes me want to write.
(which always makes me happy)

Pretty kinds of things, just like rain itself.

working girl.

Working full-time for summer has just been FULL (to the brim) of good times.

I'm at least 20 minutes late every single day (today it was an hour? woops.)

I am the slowest worker on the planet.
I have stuff to do...but I put it off because I know as soon as I finish it
I will have NOTHING to do (okay, this is only half true).

I've read up on lots of things on Wikipedia... like the whole cast of Glee, Jeffrey Dahmer (I wouldn't recommend looking him up), April 25th, many different Broadway plays, Phil of the Future... and so much more. (I would recommend doing this if you are bored, there is a wealth of information available).

I've watched MANY youtube videos. Namely... Jake Gyllenhaal clips, some black guy singing to Justin Bieber... Timmy singing to Lady GaGa... the list really goes on and on.

Oh and I would now consider myself a professional filer.
As well as a professional hot man finder.

Wouldn't you agree??
YUM.

And there's a lot more where those came from.

speckled with stars.

"It's lovely to live on a raft. We had the sky up there, all speckled with stars, and we used to lay on our backs and look up at them, and discuss about whether they was made or only just happened."

my best friend.

It is probably unoriginal to say that I have the best mom in the world, but it’s hard to describe her any other way.

She has strength beyond comprehension.

She always wears a loving smile regardless of the heartaches she may be feeling inside.

She is the kind of person that is difficult not to love.

She’s given everything she has to her family and I couldn’t be more grateful.

Even if I don’t show it, I am incredibly grateful for you Mom

So, THANK YOU

For all the love

For the constant support (you were always there at my tennis matches, my choir concerts, basically anything related to me)

For making me feel beautiful (inside and out) (even when I was so convinced guys would never like me due the fact I wasn’t blonde or brunette)

For being understanding (through my stupid mistakes)

For showing me the way (a disciple of Christ in everything you do)

For being a part of my life (and yes, you have always been a “cool” mom—ALL my friends would agree)

For teaching me that nice matters (because it really, really does)

For talking to me til three in the morning about everything and anything related to life

For letting me be your friend

For being ten times more fun than I could ever be

For being you (you do that oh so well)

For never letting me forget my lipgloss…or earrings…or accessories… :)

For letting me constantly ask you for fashion advice (I would be lost without you)

For all the road trips

And for showing me what it’s like to be a daughter of God

I love it when people tell me I look like you

And when they tell me how great you are (it happens all the time)

I’m so blessed to have you as my mama. Thanks for bringing me into your life!

For a fantastic talk on Mothers that I think EVERYONE should read...go HERE. And give some love to my beautiful friend McKenzie. I had the privilege of seeing her give it. (made me so proud :)

a word on awesome teachers.

They are the kind of people who change your life. I love that. Think about it. Have you ever had a teacher who changed yours? If you haven't, it's a shame. I've had quite a few. They are capable of inspiring on a daily basis. Their job is to love and encourage and give hope (at least that's what I think...the best ones do that).

A couple examples:

I saw my old student development professor at the dentist office and he wanted me to let him know if I had gotten into the London study abroad. When I found out I did, I sent him an email. When I opened his reply I couldn't help but smile. I felt oh so loved.

My creative writing teacher from last Fall sent me the email below after I had my heart broken (into itsy bitsy pieces). This helped me more than she'll ever know. She definitely has a way with words. And I appreciate that.

Which is what brings me to the point of this post..
Emily, my former creative writing teacher, is in a blogging brawl.
You should go vote for her!
She really is an awesome writer. And has inspired me in so many ways. Take a minute and read her stuff...then VOTE for her!

You can do that HERE

chuck.

Once upon a time...my dear friend Whitney introduced me to a little show called Chuck. Naturally, I fell in love instantly. Chuck (the character) can be described as being somewhere in between Seth Cohen and Jim Halpert, making him hopelessly adorable (see The OC and The Office respectively). Not only is the said character just awesome in every way, but so are all of the other characters on the show. It's clever and witty and pure entertainment. If you haven't seen the show, you might want to start. No, you definitely want to start.

As the story goes I found out last year sometime that Chuck (aka Zachary Levi) would be the prince like character in the up and coming Disney movie Tangled (aka Rapunzel...due out the end of this year). Well, obviously, I did not realize this meant the boy can SING...so when I came across this article on People.com, I was greatly surprised and HIGHLY pleased.

"'I sing all day long on set,' he said. 'A lot of showtunes, Justin Timberlake ... whatever pops into my head, I sing it ... I think life should be a musical. I always hate it when people watch a musical and they go, 'Oh, it's so unrealistic. No one just breaks into song in the middle of their day.' Yeah, they do. They do, if they're me.'"

No...did he really just say that? I think he and I were MFEO for sure. Geez. More guys should think like him.

This has definitely furthered my love for Chuck (or Zachary Levi...I know him better as Chuck...so I'm still gonna call him that). And Kat McPhee, well, she's always been my girl. Please watch the video below, and enjoy.

a little fall of rain.

When I was five I used to watch Les Mis (the 10th anniversary concert edition) over and over again. I'd go over to my neighbors house and I would put on my own performances of Castle on a Cloud (I dreamed of being Cosette). Emily (my neighbor) fully encouraged this dream. With her encouragement I've dreamed of Broadway since childhood...too bad I never followed through. Ha ha ha. Cosette was my ultimate career goal, but Eponine was my favorite. How can you not just wanna cry when you hear this?? And On My Own. Oh dear. It is beautiful.

Plus you can't forget about Bring Him Home....if you've never seen the version I've been speaking of...do yourself a favor and watch it.

My little brother and his choir sang a medley from Les Miserables last night and all I wanna do is watch this. The whole thing. All I can think about is how in just a few short months I'll be able to revel in this beauty, the real live beauty, in London. How magical does that sound? Can't wait to cry...and be amazed.

I love my mom for teaching me to love this (because she loves it oh so much).

cinco de mayo.

I learned from Wikipedia that:

The atomic number for Cobalt is 27.
The New York Yankees have won the world series 27 times.
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart completed 27 concerti for piano and orchestra.
There are 27 letters in the Hebrew alphabet.
The planet Uranus has 27 moons.
There are a total number of 27 books in the New Testament.

Wanna know what else is 27?

JACOB ALLEN MOON

This big guy just so happens to be my handsome oldest brother.

When I think of Jake I think of...
his gorgeous and totally awesome wife.
his beautiful baby boy.
how he can basically do anything.
his fantastic fashion sense.
how everyone loves him.
and how he's always taken care of all of us.

I remember things like:
The billions of basketball games I have attended over the years (all of which he dominated on the court).
Us singin' our hearts out (in the car...kitchen...anywhere really...).
His best ever birthday fiestas (carne asada...divine).
Me crying during my speech at his wedding dinner (and me also admitting he was my favorite).
Him telling my mom and I after the first time he met Michelle that he was gonna marry her (which he did).
Watching him hold his baby boy for the first time (I totally cried then too).
(oh and he also cleaned up after me when I threw up just an hour after Britton was born {in Michelle's hospital bathroom}).
Being bummed when he moved to Texas...
But realizing he'll always be there and when he comes back nothing has changed one bit.

Everyone should be jealous that I get to have him in my family :)

Jakey...

I hope your day was full.
of love.
of goodness.
and of awesomeness too.

I love you big brother. Thanks for being born into my family.
